Artists in Sydney’s North Shore and beyond are encouraged to enter the 2011 Hornsby Art Prize. If your artwork wins, it will be acquired into the Hornsby Shire Council art collection and you’ll collect $5000 cash.
Painters and illustrators, sculptors and printmakers are invited to enter. In a prize pool totalling more than $15,000 worth of cash, scholarships and art materials, awards for youth and emerging artists are also up for grabs.
Winner of the 2011 Hornsby Shire Emerging Artist Award will be invited to hold a solo exhibition at the new Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.
To enter, you need to be a permanent Australian resident, aged 12 years and over (as at 14 October, 2011). Your entry must be original work commenced and completed since October 2009 and not exhibited in a previous art competition, award or prize within NSW. Full entry conditions can be found here.
To help artists with the online submissions process and the digital photography of artworks, workshops will be conducted by Hornsby Art Society on Monday 19 September and Saturday 24 September. Bookings are essential. Further information and bookings by email or phone 9476 8869 or 0432 619 966.
For additional assistance with online submissions and digital photography of artwork, contact Ms Sarah Chang, Arts and Cultural Development Officer, Hornsby Shire Council (phone 9847 6893).
